Engineer First
Cathal Phelan received his Masters of Science degree in Electrical Engineering as well as Bachelor degrees in Engineering and Mathematics from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. From 1985, he worked for 15 years as an IC designer. He holds a total of over 80 patents worldwide (40 unique patents) in the SRAM, DRAM, NVM, USB and Optical Touch fields.
Executive Next
Since 2000, Cathal has held business and technical leadership roles. Initially as EVP running a division at Cypress to eventually being CEO at Ubicom and Rapt Touch some years later. In-between he returned to his engineering roots as the CTO at Cypress.
Advising Since
Atticotti was formed in 2013. And since then Cathal has found his real passion in mentoring, coaching and advising current and future leaders. Being CEO is never easy, yet it is his belief that every CEO ought to be able to reach out easily to someone who has navigated with success. Whether it be for Strategic planning, M&A advice, Fund raising, IP monetization or litigation, a CEO needs to be able to reach out for advice without concern.
